— Enerparc seals solar PPA with VW factory in Germany
German carmaker Volkswagen AG (ETR:VOW) will power its electric car factory in the eastern city of Zwickau with electricity from a nearby 5.3-MW solar plant that will be commissioned by solar developer Enerparc AG in the coming weeks.
— II-VI to green US ops with 20-GWh renewable power purchase
US engineered materials and optoelectronic components supplier II-VI Inc (NASDAQ:IIVI) will use 100% renewable electricity at several of its domestic sites under new power off-take contracts with an unnamed party.
— Food retailer Axfood plans Sweden’s largest rooftop solar installation
Swedish food retail group Axfood AB (STO:AXFO) is taking steps to install what it says would be the largest rooftop solar power system in the country on top of a facility operated by its purchasing and logistics firm Dagab.
— EDPR bags PPA with Bristol Myers for 60 MW of Texas solar
EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA) has signed a 15-year PPA to deliver 60 MW of Texan solar power to US drugmaker Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY).
— CyrusOne to green data centre ops with NextEra off-take deal
US data centre solutions provider Cyrusone Inc will procure power from 40 MW of wind and solar parks in North Texas under a deal with a unit of NextEra Energy Resources.
— Statkraft signs 300-GWh wind, solar PPA with German cement maker
Statkraft AS will sell more wind and solar power to German cement maker Opterra under a deal calling for the supply of 300 GWh.
— GE Renewable Energy signs PPA for 21 MW of wind in Spain
Wind turbine manufacturer GE Renewable Energy has signed a PPA with Spanish renewables developer Forestalia to support a new 21-MW wind farm project in Spain and lower the carbon footprint of its European operations.
— Amazon expands renewables portfolio to 15.7 GW
Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) has increased its renewable energy procurement to 15.7 GW from 12.2 GW, adding 3.5 GW across 37 renewable energy projects to its portfolio.
— Atco seals 37-MW solar PPA in Canada with Microsoft
Canadian diversified group Atco Ltd (TSE:ACO.X), through its interest in Canadian Utilities Inc (TSE:CU), has signed an offtake contract with Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) under which the technology major will buy the entire output of a 37-MW solar park in the western part of the country.
— BayWa r.e, Nestle ink PPA for 50 MW of new solar in Spain
Swiss food and beverage producer Nestle SA (SWX:NESN) will support the construction of a new 50-MW solar farm in Spain through a ten-year PPA it signed with German renewables developer Baywa r.e. AG.
— Renewables-powered gigafactory for 54 GWh of batteries planned in California
A new company set up by Swedish entrepreneur Lars Carlstrom, the founder of electric vehicle (EV) battery makers Italvolt and Britishvolt, intends to pour USD 4 billion (EUR 3.7bn) into the construction of a renewable-powered gigafactory in California’s Imperial Valley.
— KAB signs PPA to provide 2 MW of solar to Malaysian store
Malaysian electrical and mechanical engineering company Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KLSE:KAB) has signed a 21-year PPA to provide about 2 MW of solar to local hypermarket and retail group Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad.
— Brazil’s Braskem signs wind PPA with EDF Renewables
Brazilian thermoplastic resin producer Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) has signed an off-take contract with EDF Renewables do Brasil, a unit of French utility EDF (EPA:EDF), to buy electricity generated by a new wind farm.
