February 8 (Renewables Now) – Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has released the official 2022 feed-in tariffs (FiTs) for renewable energy plants.
Depending on the type of installations and their size, the wholesale purchase rates for solar photovoltaics (PV) range from TWD 3.8680/kWh (USD 0.139/EUR 0.122) for ground-mounted to TWD 5.8952/kWh for rooftop arrays.
More details are available in the table below.
Annual tariff | Annual tariff + grid fee for rooftop arrays
Category | Capacity | 1st period (TWD/kWh) | 2nd period (TWD/kWh) | 1st period (TWD/kWh) | 2nd period (TWD/kWh)
Rooftop | 1 kW-20 kW | 5.8952 | 5.7848 | 5.8952 | 5.7848
20 kW-100 kW | Grid fee not paid | 4.5549 | 4.4538 | 4.5549 | 4.4538
Grid fee paid | 4.4861 | 4.3864 | 4.5549 | 4.4552
100 kW-500 kW | 4.0970 | 3.9666 | 4.1934 | 4.0630
Over 500 kW | 4.1122 | 3.9727 | 4.1535 | 4.0140
Ground-mounted | Over 1 MW | 4.0031 | 3.8680 | — | —
Floating | Over 1 MW | 4.3960 | 4.2612 | — | — |
For small hydropower plants (HPPs) of less than 2 MW, the wholesale purchase rate has been increased to TWD 4.1539/kWh from the figure included in the draft (TWD 3.8943/kWh), while for those above 2 MW it remains the same at TWD 2.8599/kWh.
The tariffs for the remaining technologies are the same as those in the draft, including the newly-introduced one for ocean energy projects of TWD 7.3200/kWh.
(TWD 10 = USD 0.359/EUR 0.315)
